45-Year Reunion - Happenings
Carole (Hook) Kovachevich was the General Chairperson for our 45 year reunion celebration. The committee included Mary (Dykes) Delnat, Fred Kanouse, Richard Schroeder, Dale Bauer, Janice (Prough) Farkas, Tom Farkas, Sally (Roelandts) Rieff, Sharon (Wiekamp) Showalter, Jeanne (Forte) Blasko and Mary K. (Smith) Kase.
This 45th reunion was held on Saturday, August 26, 2000 at the Knollwood Country Club, 16633 Baywood Lane, Granger, Indiana. Social hour started at 6 PM with attendees picking up their name tags as the classmates picked up the reunion booklet as they were greeted by Carole, our chairperson. Classmate Jack Cary formally opened the reunion at 7 PM with a welcome to all attending, then asked for a moment of silence to honor of our deceased classmates. The Invocation was then given by Jack after which, tables of classmates were released to go to the buffet (in orderly fashion). The buffet, consisted of garden, apple, potato, and pasta salads, red potato halves, steamed vegetables, rolls, chicken dejun slices, and finally but best of all - prime rib. The buffet was excellent and enjoyed by all.
Following dinner, Mary K. (Smith) Kase presented the committee members, passed out a "55 Class Quiz to be taken by all. The quiz really taxed the old memory banks and in many cases not entirely successful. Fortunately, grades were not taken. Mary K. then gave a very meaningful speech she authored ( 45th Reunion Speech ). Mary K.'s excellent presentation concluded the formal program, after which music by PROSHOW, INC. was provided until 11 PM. Some actually danced but most roamed and chatted.
There was an informal and unplanned photo session organized by Sharon (Wiekamp) Showalter - for me (to use my digital camera) to take pictures of the elementary and jr. high school classmates who fed into MHS to comprise our MHS 1955 class. After taking these informal class pictures, I (on my own this time) opted to wonder among the tables and take more pictures. Unfortunately, I did not get everyone's picture, but did catch many. These pictures can be viewed at Reunion Pictures . Next time, (50th), maybe we'll be better organized - to take every attending classmates' picture (... if we remember the camera...)!
Everyone had a great time and all enjoyed the
reunion including the facilities, dinner, organization and best of all visiting
with each other. We also received suggestions for the forthcoming 50th
